My youngest daughter repurposed part of a bunk bed into this awesome collar storage/display:

This is kind of a follow-up post to my Maltipaws review. I really do love these collars 💕
have a problem like to browse and shop for dog collars. In the past I would randomly find something I liked and purchase, then a few years ago I found Maltipaws. She makes really nice collars in a big variety of fabrics with new options being added very often.
Dog collars are offered in five sizes, fitting necks from 7″ to 29″, and four widths. For both Doodle and Teddy I order 1″ width in medium. Personalization, bandanas, bow ties, collar flowers, etc are also available. I hand wash the collars in warm water with Dawn and lay flat to dry.
Today I’m sharing some of the new collars we’ve acquired over the past few months. Getting the collars is easy, getting the dogs to model is more difficult….
The collar Nandy is wearing is custom made from Collar Mania. I ordered it the same day that Lisa posted new pit bull fabrics on their Facebook page. A bonus for this collar is that it’s adjustable enough to fit all three girls! (please excuse the photo bombing
idiots puppies in the background 😉 )
Doodlebug is wearing a 3/4″ collar from DogDayDesigns, which sells ribbon on webbing collars. Shop owner Terri focuses on European ribbons because of their quality and uniqueness; they aren’t collars you’ll see at every other online store. I felt both the colors of the design and the silly bugs very much suited Doodle!
And finally Mr B is wearing a green and white swirl design from caninedesign. Again this is a ribbon on webbing collar, but many of her styles have an option of different webbing color choices. Even though this was listed as a St Patrick’s Day collar it’s suitable year round.
And again Mr B shows his how he feel about modeling:
There are so many awesome sites that do custom collars. I almost feel overwhelmed when browsing: fabric choices, fonts, thread colors, hardware. The big issue that prevents me from buying unfortunately is cost, otherwise I’d probably have a huge collection between the four dogs! A few months after she joined our family I did get Nandy a collar from Collar Mania. She has a red print leash and they were extremely helpful in suggesting thread colors to match it.
Nandy, Cricket, and Doodle all have Lupine collars (you can see Cricket modeling Wild West and Doodle in Puppy Love on their website). They are very nice, reasonably priced collars that come with an Even If Chewed guarantee!
When Mr B moved in we didn’t have a collar that would fit his 22″ neck. I was really excited when we walked into Petco and found this bee collar for him:
I also wanted to get him a simple I Am Deaf collar. There have been a number of incidents where deaf dogs are out in public, a person unknowingly pats or touches the dog, the dog startles and someone ends up hurt. I figured the price of a collar was worth avoiding something like that happening. I found a site that offered embroidered collars for less than $10 but it turned out to be a case of you get what you pay for. There was no spacing between the words, and once the collar was adjusted for his neck the words couldn’t even be seen! I found Angie’s Embroidery on Amazon, saw that she had all five-star reviews, so I decided to give her a try. Basic choices of colors, reasonably priced, excellent quality, great communication, and I received the collar four days after ordering!
I also have a collection of bandanas, mainly for Mr B to wear, especially in colder weather. I prefer to buy the standard square bandanas rather than those that are sewn into triangles for dogs…a much larger variety to choose from and far less expensive!
Do you have a collar collection for your dog(s)? If you order custom collars what’s your favorite site?
